Local Love Superstar: Jane Aransky of Touching the Healing Heart.

Local love is near and dear to our hearts at Barefoot Wine & Bubbly. For the past 25 years, we’ve been putting the FUN in fundraising with nonprofits in our local communities. In this new feature on the Barefoot Blog, we’re highlighting cool individuals and nonprofits that are taking big steps to make a difference in their communities. To us, they’re the epitome of local love and we’re happy to TOEst their accomplishments on the Barefoot Blog. Enjoy!
When Jane’s friend lost her husband of 60 years, she was given a gift certificate for a facial at her local spa as an alternative way to offer condolences. Her friend’s transformation inspired Jane to start the Touching the Healing Heart Fund (link: http://touchingthehealingheartfund.org/), a nonprofit that provides free spa services for people who have lost loved ones. Read on for our interview with this Local Love Superstar.
How does Touching the Healing Heart make an impression on its community?
I believe that kindness is up there as one of the most wonderful ways we can be to one another. What we do at Touching the Healing Heart is provide kindness and goodness to our community. Our complimentary treatments give a sense of community and hope to the people we’re helping.
Why do you have sole for Touching the Healing Heart?
I am personally passionate about it because I love to help, heal and be invested in another person’s comfort and peace. We are really connecting one sole to another and it’s a gift to be able to have this healing treatment of touch.
How did you have the courage and heart to found this charity?
I was inspired because a friend’s husband passed away and she came in with a gift certificate for a treatment. After the treatment was over, she had a smile on her face and you could see that her joyfulness was back. She said “Jane, this is the best gift you could’ve ever given me.” It was then that I realized that so many people could benefit from this. We give people a little vacation from their grief by allowing them to step away from it for a while.
With such an important cause, how do you bring the Barefoot FUN and passion to your work every day?
I’m naturally a joyful person and to me, this is not like work. We have a wonderful time and do whatever we can to make our Spa a completely different world. We want to transport people to a place of peace, tranquility and relaxation. Keeping that in mind, we’re always having a great time.

Barefoot Merlot Hot Fudge Sauce
![]()
We are so excited to share this absolutely delectable recipe with you today! Our fabulous Barefoot Merlot meets intense dark chocolate in this rich, velvety hot fudge sauce, guaranteeing to make everything that it’s drizzled on better.
Wine and chocolate make up the most perfect pairing and if you’ve never attempted hot fudge sauce from scratch before --- well, you’ll never believe how easy it is! Just a few simple ingredients and you’ll have perfect chocolately sauce in a matter of minutes.
First, finely chop your chocolate. You’ll want to break out the good stuff for this recipe! We used 60% bittersweet, which made for a very rich dark chocolate fudge sauce.

Next, throw your chocolate in a pot along with some heavy cream. A third of a cup should do the trick!

Along with light corn syrup. Be sure to buy light corn syrup and not dark corn syrup for this specific recipe!

Add a tablespoon of really good quality cocoa. The darker the better! Followed by a fourth of a cup of granulated sugar….

And finally – a pinch of sea salt! Now mix all this goodness together and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Keep stirring!! Your kitchen should smell amazing right about now.
Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for --- adding the Barefoot Merlot!

Remove your sauce from the heat and add three tablespoons of the good stuff. Remember to keep stirring until your sauce is smooth and silky.
Let your hot fudge sauce sit for about ten minutes then serve warm over whatever you like! Ice cream, brownies, strawberries…the opportunities are endless.
